PFA linings

PFA LINING EXPERIENCE ADVANTAGES

PFA (perfluoroalkoxy) – is a co-polymer product of PTFE – Teflon.

PFA is the highest grade plastic that is weldable. Its most important advantage to PTFE, allowing its application for lining works on big surfaces assuring flawless protection.

PFA is providing unparalleled protection against chemical corrosion and permeation.

It is suitable for an extremely broad spectrum of applications, thanks to its resistance to almost any medium. Applications include linings of containment vessels, waste incineration, heat exchangers in power plants and vessels in the chemical industry.

It is usable in a wide temperature range of -190°C/-310°F to +280°C/+536°F. This means it can be offered as a solution even for extreme chemicals at high temperatures.

PFA sheets can be attached to steel tanks by use of mechanical fixing points such as bolts or screws. This PFA lining system can be used for flue gas applications and in wet sulphuric acid plants at temperatures up to +280°C/+536°F even in underpressure and for any other application which requires the highest chemical resistance.

"We have used PFA linings in sulphuric acid plants with H2SO4 concentrations of up to 98% (condensing at 265°C) for more than a decade without ever requiring a single repair.”

The outstandingly long service life of PFA Linings results in longer maintenance intervals and minimized maintenance costs.

PFA products are also available in HP (High Purity) quality.

The HP quality means it can be used for applications in the semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and food industries that require high purity levels.

PFA is used in the semiconductor industry because it is less likely to introduce contaminants into the component.

Its smoother surface finish makes it a superior candidate for preventing particle shedding, making it essential to manufacturing the next-generation of sub-10 nm microchips.

WE ARE EXPERTS IN FIX POINT LINING

PFA welding requires well-trained personnel to assure the longest possible service life.

We have built more than 20 Sulphuric Acid plants and all our steel equipment, where exposed to H2SO4, is lined with PFA. We have our own manufacturing facility where we do the lining of our equipment, but the services can be provided worldwide. PFA is acid resistant.

"No matter where you are in the world and what challenging situation you have in terms of chemicals or temperature. If they are within the PFA’s operating range, we can help.”

UNIQUE ADVANTAGES OF OUR FIX POINTS

There are two methods for mounting fixing points.

In the classic version, a welding bolt is welded to the steel surface. Afterwards, the PFA sheet, a washer made of steel (optionally a PTFE disc can be added) are positioned and tightened with a hex nut. Finally, the PFA cover cap is welded tight to the PFA foil.

P&P’s seamless Fix Point

A welding bolt is welded to the steel surface. Its special design allows PFA/Graphite anchor plates to be screwed on tight with a steel washer. This is allowing seamless welding of the PFA foil to the fixing point.

No leakage possible!

"This solution reduces the risk of possible leakage at the fixing points to zero, effectively eliminating this potential point of failure."

All our welding seams are triple-welded for additional protection against leakages.

Our special fixing point design allows also to mount an additional second PFA layer, directly welded to the, with steel bolts mounted, first PFA coating layer.

Depending on the load-bearing requirements we will vary the distance between fixing points
