We produce electrostatic precipitators, and we offer both wet electrostatic precipitators and dry electrostatic precipitators. In most cases, however, the wet electrostatic precipitator is the superior process as it allows the removal of submicron particles.
Dry electrostatic precipitators are only used for very large volume gas flows or high gas temperatures if the requirements for particle separation are not particularly high. WET ELECTROSTATIC PRECIPITATOR (WESP) – OPERATING PRINCIPLE - HOW IT WORKS
Polluted gas enters the P&P - WESP. An electric field charges the particles in the gas by applying a high voltage between a negative electrode and the grounded collection electrode.
No barriers are restricting the gas flow resulting in a very low pressure drop.
The basic function principle of an electrostatic precipitator can be broken down to the following steps:
- Step 1: The release of a negative electrical charge (electrons) from the discharge electrode is ionizing neutral gas molecules.
- Step 2: The ionized gas molecules are now charging the dust particles
- Step 3: The negatively charged dust particles are now drawn to the grounded surface of the collecting electrode.
The dust layer grows on the collecting electrode and in the case of a wet electrostatic precipitator, it automatically drips into the conditioning section and is drained.
Clean gas leaves the P&P – WESP.
